Who We Are

Since 1923, The Pioneer Theatre has been entertaining guests of all ages and backgrounds with the latest that Hollywood has to offer.  Our theater is locally owned and managed by veterans of the movie business - Tom Struthers, Rob Mayer, and Casandra Struthers.  Our team collectively has over 20 years of experience in the business, and we take pride in presenting the best movies available each week.  The Pioneer Theatre maintains its tradition of offering a unique, small-town experience with old-fashioned customer service- but we also bring you the latest in 21st century movie viewing with all-digital projection and sound.  We guarantee that you'll have a great time- and if there's anything we can ever do to make your experience more enjoyable, please let us know and we'll take care of you!

Our History

The Pioneer Theatre first opened its doors in 1923.  Since then, it has provided a steady stream of movies to guests of all ages and backgrounds. In the mid-1950s, the theater took on its present look, with "50's modern" glass and metal at the front. Sometime in the late 1980s, the owners installed the latest in movie sound (at that time) with a Dolby Stereo system. In 2016, it entered the latest age of cinema with the installation of a digital projection and upgraded digital sound system.

Our Future

For the past 100 years, movies have remained a staple of main-street entertainment. We don't see this changing any time soon. What will change is the number of movies out at any time, the technology used to present those movies, as well as the comfort and amenities offered. The Pioneer Theatre will remain relevant to the Milford community by continuing to invest in the location, in order to bring you greater product selection and comfort. One project already undertaken is the installation of 18 luxury recliner seats in the theater balcony - this unique viewing experience is unlike any other in both comfort and enjoyment of the feature. You can expect more of these types projects in the future- the building facade is in need of updating, and a new marquee will be installed soon. We are proud to serve the community, and hope to be one of the major reasons for people to visit Milford's downtown!
